My group and I have been presenting our NP Play presentation to 4th graders at Sugar Creek elementary. We have been able to speak to four 4th grade classes in total. It has been really fun to talk to kids about getting involved in sports. This project is super important because we are able to talk to kids about why they should play sports and keep up on their school work. For the last week of school, we are going to make a video about our project so that they can present it to as many classes as possible. We are going to talk about the same things we have been talking about in our in-person presentations. We are also gonna try and make it more fun so the kids will want to watch it. This project has been super fun to do and I hope other people continue this project in the future.

Eli and I are still doing the Softball and Baseball fundraisers to raise money for Riley, but that project doesn't take up a lot of time so we decided to join Addi, Kennedy, and Jesi on their NP play project. This is a really cool project where we talk to younger kids about the benefits from playing sports in high school. So far we've talked to a class at the junior high. We are planning on making a video for the rest of the schools and other classes. The video with be like an interview where we talk about the sports that we play and talk about why they are important to us and also what the benefits are from playing those sports. We are going to try and make the video fun so it catches the attention of the kids. I hope that this project is successful in getting more kids involved in sports!!!
Eli and I are doing a fundraiser to raise money for Riley Children's Hospital. We are doing the fundraiser through our baseball and softball teams. We are doing $5 for every home run softball makes and $2 for every run that baseball makes. We are going to be doing this for the remainder of the regular season. We are also only going to be doing home games. So far we have 3 sponsors that are willing to donate, but we have a pretty big list that we still have to talk to as well. We are excited to see how much money we can raise to help support Riley.
We are one day away from the end of the quarter. We won't have this class again until quarter 4 which is a long ways away. Overall our project was fun. We learned how to sew and make hula hoops. We weren't able to finish our project due to the short amount of time we had because of the schedule changes. When we get to quarter 4, we hope to finish our project and hope to start a new project that we complete before the end of the year. Overall this quarter was really fun and hopefully we will be able to finish our project soon.
We've made a lot of progress on our project. We completed the prototype and are ready to start mass producing our reading circles. we bought 20 yards of fabric and a lot of elastic. We made our own hula hoops out of bendable tubes and connecters. Then we measured out the fabric and cut out the circles needed for the hula hoops. All we need to do is sew them and feed the elastic through. The project overall has been going well. A few bumps along the way with the sewing machine but other than that it has been pretty simple. We are very excited to get these circles done for the kids.
Right now we are working on our prototype for the reading circle. We bought a hula-hoop, fabric, and elastic. Mr. Large had his mom come in and teach us to sew. It was a lot harder than I thought, but I'm glad we learned and a big thanks goes out to his mom as well. It was a fun experience. After we finish the prototype, we will show it to the teacher. If they like it then we will start to make more for the class. Our hope is that if they like it and spread the word, we will be able to make more and provide them to more schools.
My group and I were able to identify a problem in our community that we could help solve. We are going through a lot right now due to Covid-19 and it is important to help each other through problems. Our project is to help the younger kids at the elementary schools by helping them be able to read outside. During our research we talked to a local elementary teacher who told us about how her kids are not able to read outside on the benches due to the new guidelines for Covid. After hearing this we knew that we needed to help. It is important for kids, especially younger kids, to be able to read. Our project is to build a reading spot for these kids. We will make it out of hula-hoops, fabric, and elastic. We will make a prototype and test it out and if it succeeds, we will make more and distribute them to the kids at the elementary school.
